US believes Hu not told of China fighter test flight: official

Beijing (AFP) Jan 11, 2011
The Chinese military has carried out a test flight of a stealth fighter jet without informing President Hu Jintao and the country's civilian leadership, a senior US defence official said Tuesday.

"It was clear that none of the civilians in the room had been informed (of the test flight)," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, describing a meeting between Hu and US Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
