Russia Could Initiate Establishment Of International Space Association

Several Russian spacecraft manufacturers have approached the Russian Federal Space Agency, Rosaviacosmos, with a proposal to set up an international association of space-related institutions and companies, the agency's official spokesman said Wednesday, reports RIA Novosti.

Vyacheslav Davidenko said Rosaviacosmos leadership is now considering the possibility of the agency joining the would-be association; the founding companies will gather for their first session on September 12.

Starsem announced Monday the signing of a contract with MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA) for the launch of MDA's RADARSAT-2 Earth observation satellite by a Soyuz launch vehicle.
