New York NY (SPX) Apr 18, 2012

As one of the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) installers for commercial rooftops in the UK, Renewable Resources will leverage its unique expertise in PV design and rooftop construction to help customers retrofit their properties with solar energy systems.

Renewable Resources (Energy Solutions) has announced its established presence in North America to provide roof-mounted solar technology for residential and commercial customers across New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. As a result of Renewable Resources' origins in Scotland, the launch is timed to coincide with Tartan Week 2012, a series of events in New York City celebrating Scottish culture and innovation in the United States.

Renewable Resources is partnering with Scottish Development International (SDI), an organization that helps Scottish companies build international presence, to establish operations, which will be headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. Renewable Resources and SDI celebrated the official North American launch with Fergus Ewing MSP, the Scottish Government's Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism.

Enterprise Minister Fergus Ewing said: "I am delighted to welcome the successful expansion of Renewable Resources into their new US headquarters. They are an excellent example of an innovative and ambitious Scottish company that is moving into overseas markets and this is exactly what the Scottish Government is encouraging.

"Scotland is leading the world in renewable technology and the success of this company is another example of how this is paying economic dividends. I know that Scottish Development International (SDI) has supported Renewable Resources all through the expansion process and they will continue to do so as the business develops even further. I wish them every success for the future."

As one of the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) installers for commercial rooftops in the UK, Renewable Resources will leverage its unique expertise in PV design and rooftop construction to help customers retrofit their properties with solar energy systems. By switching to solar energy, home owners and businesses can lower energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint.

Underlining their position as an innovative market leader, the company recently completed a 6.9MW program of installations on 115 supermarket rooftops for major UK retailer Sainsbury's.

"With the residential and commercial solar markets in the United States rapidly growing, we see enormous opportunity to bring the expertise gained through our business in Europe to customers here in North America" said Paul Gribben, Chief Executive, Renewable Resources.

"As a company with proud Scottish roots, we are delighted to celebrate this strategic expansion of our business during Tartan Week with support from the Scottish Government, Mr. Ewing and our partners at SDI."

"Scottish Development International is pleased to assist Renewable Resources as it establishes a foothold in the U.S.," noted Danny Cusick, President, Americas, of Scottish Development International. "The company exemplifies the kind of entrepreneurial Scottish renewable energy firm that has the potential to thrive in North America."
