Bandung, Indonesia (SPX) Jun 03, 2005 The Space and Aviation Institute (LAPAN) on Wednesday successfully launched a rocket in a try-out of series of nine it had built at a sea-side village in Garut district, West Java. The first rocket was fired into the sky from a launching pad at Cilauteureum village at 8.00 am, somewhat later than scheduled. About 20,000 local fishermen remained on the shore on Wednesday and would do the same on Thursday for safety's sake.
