General Dynamics Awarded Contract For TRIDENT Ballistic Missile System

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems a $56 million contract modification to provide Fire Control production, operational support, field engineering services, repair and return effort, training, and development for the TRIDENT II Fire Control system. It also includes SSGN Attack Weapons Control Systems Life Cycle Cost Control and Technology Refresh work.

Work will be performed in Pittsfield, Mass., and is expected to be completed by December 2009. The contract has a total potential value of $147 million if all options are exercised.

"This award is a testament to General Dynamics' long-standing relationship with the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs. We have demonstrated a culture of continuous improvement that has resulted in highly reliable, innovative, open-architecture systems for the fleet," said Mike Tweed-Kent, vice president and general manager of Maritime Digital Systems at General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.
