US court halts Arctic oil drilling for reviewWashington (AFP) July 22, 2010 A US judge ordered a halt to offshore oil and gas drilling off the north coast of Alaska for a new environmental review. Federal Judge Ralph Beistline in Anchorage, Alaska, said in a 21-page decision Wednesday that the Interior Department's Minerals Management Service failed to conduct adequate analysis before granting the drilling rights in the Chukchi Sea in 2008.
