US nuclear sub collides with cruiser: report
by Staff Writers
Washington (AFP) Oct 14, 2012

A US Navy nuclear submarine and a cruiser collided Saturday during training exercises off the US Atlantic Coast Saturday, NBC News reported.

The television network said the incident involved the Montpelier, a nuclear-powered Los Angeles-class attack submarine, and the San Jacinto, an Aegis-class missile cruiser.

The causes and circumstances of the collision were not immediately known.

Nobody aboard the vessels was injured, the report said, citing unnamed Pentagon officials.

Both ships continued to operate under their own power, NBC News pointed out.
