Two killed in avalanche in Austrian Tirol
by Staff Writers
Vienna (AFP) Dec 28, 2011

A German couple was killed in an avalanche Wednesday in the western Austrian province of Tirol, police said.

The two victims, a man and a woman, were part of a group on a paragliding outing when they were caught in an avalanche in the Lech valley and buried under two to three metres (6.5-10 feet) of snow.

They were already dead when the rescue teams arrived.

The avalanche was likely caused by the high temperatures in the region on Wednesday, according to the police.
