Toyota says to ramp up production in China

 Tokyo (AFP) June 17, 2008
 Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday that its joint venture in China with Guangzhou Automobile would invest about 380 million dollars to increase output in response to fast-growing demand.

The venture will install a second production line at its plant in Guangdong to churn out an additional 120,000 Camry sedans a year, raising the venture's annual output to 320,000 vehicles.

Toyota, on course to overtake General Motors as the world's top selling automaker, is expanding aggressively in emerging markets to make up for sluggish sales at home and tougher conditions in the United States.

Ford, GM see boost in trade with China
 Detroit, Michigan (AFP) June 17, 2008
 Ford Motor Co. and General Motors expect to export 1.8 billion dollars' worth of vehicles and parts over the next few years, helped by new bilateral deals, executives said Tuesday.
