However, what made my day were the calls I received from people who believed that NASA and the CIA planted transistor radios in their brains, or that NASA was concealing a doomsday comet that was going to wipe out humankind.

The movie "The Day After Tomorrow" promises to be great fiction, which will no doubt generate numerous calls to NASA OIG and others about impending doom and or NASA cover-ups.

However, we are also in an election year which explains why the man who "believes" he invented the Internet and was the subject in the book "Love Story" is hosting a town hall meeting on the opening day of this movie.

Former Vice President and former presidential candidate Al Gore, wants to warn the world as to the truth of this movie, and to blame his old nemesis, President George W. Bush, for the future elimination of humankind predicated on his policies, which Gore finds hostile to the environment.

Many in the media have echoed the warnings of Gore and the environmental extreme, and there will no doubt be doomsday theorists from within NASA, which the media has predicted, sitting next to their giant pictures of Commander Data or Mr. Spock, lending their support to the hype.

The fact is that during the first "Earth Day" there were those who were warning then that by this time we would have already suffered a major calamity, along the lines of the movie, predicated on a large sheet of ice from Antarctica falling into the ocean, raising water tables, and submerging large parts of the world, to include Florida.

I am sure that some of these deep thinkers believe that Disneyworld is long gone, and that there exist an international conspiracy to make it appear that Disneyworld is operational.

There are those who love the sensation that fear brings or who are drawn to fear. These people ride roller coasters, attend horror movies, and drive recklessly, all to experience that sensation.

"The Day After Tomorrow" is a cheap thrill ride, which many weak minded people will jump on and stay on for the rest of their lives, and Al Gore and friends are giving this movie just enough credibility to sell it as truth to the feeble.

What the environmental extremists seldom admit to is that man's part in global warming, if it exists at all, is less than 3% of the problem, with 97% attributable to natural occurrences. The fact is that short of climbing back into caves, the most ambitious environmentalist agenda will have little impact on global warming or on the permanent ice cap in Antarctica.

So to the feeble I say this, when Al Gore flies in his private jets or is chauffeured in his private limousines to attend doomsday rallies about the environment, don't worry, for despite his best efforts the environment is not being adversely impacted by his conduct or the conduct of anyone else. There will be a day after tomorrow.
