City of Industry - April 26, 1999 - TecStar Inc. has contracted with Unique Equipment Company to design and build two automated manufacturing systems for its solar panel and array fabrication facility that will further lower production. Both systems will use vision-guided robots for safe, precise positioning. Material handling is completely automated, requiring only one operator to provide incoming parts and remove completed assemblies. Both systems work on a wide range of cell sizes. TecStar has undertaken this capability expansion in response to continued strong growth and demand for space power systems technology. In addition to an improvement in production throughput, significant end item cost reductions are projected for TecStar's worldwide customer base. Unique Equipment Company is a leading supplier of automated equipment, offering a complete line of testing, interconnecting, glassing, conveyor loading and conveyor unloading systems for terrestrial and space-based solar cell manufacturers.
