Beijing, China (XNA) Sep 15, 2006 No matter what technique the Taiwan authority plays in the United Nations to push "Taiwan independence", such attempt will never succeed, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said here Thursday. On Wednesday, the United Nations (UN) rejected Taiwan's proposal for the so-called Taiwan's "representation" in the United Nations and "the peace across the Taiwan Straits" to be discussed at the 61st UN General Assembly. The Taiwan authorities should follow the historical trend and stop all secessionist activities, Qin said. Since 1993, the General Committee of the UN General Assembly has rejected for 13 consecutive times to add the proposals for the so-called "Taiwan's representation in the UN" into the assembly's agenda.
