Tachyon Adds Auto Deploy To Its Portable Broadband Receiver

Vienna VA - Apr 15, 2004
Tachyon Networks Incorporated has announced the immediate availability of its Auto Deploy Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) solution, as the second in an expanding line of transportable broadband access products, providing high-speed connectivity at virtually any location in a matter of minutes.

Tachyon's first portable solution "Quick Deploy" provides reliable, portable broadband connectivity even in the most remote locations for emergency response teams, temporary field locations and for special events.

The advanced Auto Deploy CPE offers the same benefits of Quick Deploy, with added benefits of smaller, lighter equipment and one-button-push motorized antenna deployment, which automatically locates the correct satellite and locks on to Tachyon's high-speed broadband satellite network, within minutes.

BrookStone Equipment & Services, Inc., Emergency Services Division, a leading supplier of emergency services equipment based in Temecula, CA, offers Tachyon's Auto Deploy CPE to its customers.

BrookStone's emergency services customers include federal, state and local emergency response agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S Forest Service (USFS), the California Department of Forestry (CDF), and numerous state and local fire and police departments. All of these customers require rapidly available, uninterrupted communication in their first response and disaster recovery efforts.

"Our clients have a mission critical need for fast, portable and reliable communications technology that allows access to state and federal emergency agencies for information sharing, rescue and reconnaissance missions, GIS maps and up-to-the minute weather information," said Rob Knabe, Director of the Emergency Services Division of BrookStone.

"Working to support local, state and numerous federal agencies involved in emergency assistance, we know that on-the-fly guaranteed reliable connectivity in emergency situations will save property and has the potential to save lives."

Compact and rugged, Auto Deploy sets up in a matter of minutes, significantly reducing time and eliminating the costs associated with deploying specially trained field personnel. Auto Deploy is backed by T- Force, Tachyon's Satellite Broadband Performance Optimizer that delivers reliable, fast IP transport, maintains TCP/IP standards compliance and provides guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS).

"Auto Deploy is another tangible example of Tachyon's commitment to providing cutting edge products and services. The Auto Deploy unit allows us to meet customer demand for user-friendly broadband network access virtually anywhere and literally sets up in minutes with minimal human intervention," said Mark Gercenstein, president and CEO of Tachyon.

"From disaster recovery to providing Internet and private network access to remote locations, Auto Deploy allows communications when and where traditional landline broadband communication service is simply not available."

Tachyon's Auto Deploy CPE is the second in a growing line of cost- effective, powerful and reliable portable broadband products.
