TFS Secures Order From Sierra Nevada Corporation
Tempe AZ (SPX) Jul 30, 2004 Three-Five Systems, a specialized electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, announced Thursday that it has secured a purchase order from Sierra Nevada Corporation, a privately-held, defense electronics engineering and manufacturing enterprise headquartered in Sparks, Nevada. Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is a defense electronics engineering and manufacturing enterprise founded in 1963. Today SNC develops a variety of electronic systems and high-quality products for both commercial and military customers. The company's activities are focused on four product categories: Air Traffic Control (ATC), Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Systems, Instrumentation, Test, and Training Systems (ITT) Systems and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems. Jack Saltich, President and CEO of TFS said, "This win is significant for TFS for two reasons. First, it helps us to penetrate the Department of Defense (DoD) marketplace with our U.S. based electronics manufacturing services." "We believe this is a growing market segment that can benefit from our unique combination of global EMS capabilities combined with our expertise in display technology. Second, SNC was a key customer of Integrex, a privately-held, EMS company located in Bothell, Washington." "Just three months ago we announced that we had hired key employees and acquired the customer base of Integrex. Our ability to secure this order from SNC certainly validates that transaction and helps us in our quest to make TFS a dominant EMS provider in the northwestern U.S." SNC was intent on finding an EMS partner that could provide innovation, flexibility and close proximity that a new product introduction (NPI) requires. TFS provides that through its Redmond, Washington location. SNC also wanted an EMS company that had the internal capability to support the discipline surrounding products manufactured for the DoD. TFS quality certifications at Redmond, including ISO 9001 2000, filled this need as well. As a result, production is expected to commence later this year with TFS shipments currently scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2004. Space Group To Activate New Unit
Colorado Springs CO (SPX) Jan 6, 2006Air Force Reserve Command's 310th Space Group will travel deeper into the space program when it activates a new unit Jan. 7. Headquarters Reserve National Security Space Institute will be a Reserve associate unit to the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo. The institute is the Department of Defense's focal point for providing education about space power in joint warfighting. |
