San Jose CA (SPX) Sep 23, 2004 Symmetricom Wednesday introduced four new hardware option modules for its XLi high-precision GPS synchronized time and frequency receiver, which allow customers to make measurements of external timing signals relative to the XLi. The new options are being showcased at The Institute of Navigation (ION) GNSS 2004, September 21-24, 2004, at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California, Booth #327 & 329. The modular ultra precision Model XLi Time and Frequency System is the most precise, versatile and flexible solution for timing and synchronization requirements, and the new options - N.1 Synthesizer, FTM III Line Frequency and Time Monitor Module, HaveQuick/1 PPS Synchronization Input and the new GPS Option Module with TRAIM - adds to its versatility. The XLi is completely modular through a variety of option cards that are easily configured by the user. "These four new option modules significantly enhance the XLi's suite of features and functions to provide a powerful single instrument solution," commented Ron Holm, product marketing manager of Symmetricom's Timing, Test and Measurement Division. "We continue to expand the XLi system so that customers have more options in customizing the system to support their multiple time and frequency requirements." The N.1 Synthesizer option is a robust frequency synthesizer with four independent outputs that produces rates between 1Hz and 50 MHz in 1Hz steps. The N.1 module provides ultra stable rate outputs for applications such as secure communications that require special rates. The FTM III Line Frequency and Time Monitor Module monitors the line frequency and calculates a number of time and frequency statistics on it. The module measures system frequency and system time, and frequency deviation to 1mHz (0.001) and time deviation to 1ms accuracies. Our customers commonly use the FTM III option in power utility applications. The HaveQuick/1 PPS Synchronization Input option allows the XLi to synchronize to an external HaveQuick II format signal conforming to ICD-GPS-060 and/or an external 1PPS signal. The XLi GPS Option module is an upgrade to the existing GPS module which improves time-to-lock and supports Timing Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (TRAIM). TRAIM assures high PPS integrity in Over-determined Timing Mode, which protects the XLi clock from a faulty satellite signal. Pricing and Availability The XLi Time and Frequency Receiver will be available for purchase on September 30, 2004. The basic XLi Time and Frequency System with GPS is $4,275. The N.1 Synthesizer is $1,595, the FTM III Line Frequency and Time Monitor Module is $1,295, the HaveQuick/1 PPS Synchronization Input Option is $1195 and the new GPS Option Module with TRAIM is $975.
