Sweden orders new laser simulators from Saab

Saab has received a $10.26 million order from the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration to supply new laser simulators.

The simulators will be used to support the Swedish army's training as the force upgrades its equipment. Saab officials say the new devices will help the army utilize the international standard used by other Nordic countries in addition to several NATO allies including the United States.

"This order is proof that our method for realistically simulating ballistics is still world leading," Saab training simulation chief Åsa Thegström said in a press release. "We are constantly developing the technology to improve system performance and satisfy new requirements."

Saab's training and simulation solutions support a variety of infantry functions, including precision gunnery training, counter-IED and search, anti-tank weapons and fire exercises. Deliveries are expected in 2017.

"We have a long tradition of delivering simulator systems to the Swedish Armed Forces and with this order, we assure their capabilities to train and conduct maneuvers on national and international levels," Thegström added.
