Stratos To Provide US Govt Agencies Global SatComm Support

Inmarsat: every sailor's favourite bird

Bethesda - Mar 26, 2002
Stratos, a leading global provider of remote communication solutions and services, today announced that it has been selected by ADC International, LLC, a provider of complete satellite communications solutions, as a subcontractor for their Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) contract.

Stratos has been engaged by ADC International (ADCI), to provide immediate, reliable, and direct worldwide connections for ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship Inmarsat A telephone, voice and data communications to all U.S. Government agencies.

"We are very pleased to work with ADCI to provide mission-critical global Inmarsat communications for the U.S. Government," said James Parm, Stratos COO. "This arrangement showcases Stratos' commitment to its distributors, as well as the flexibility and scalability of our global communications offerings."

This arrangement adds to Stratos' growing portfolio of U.S agency clients. In December 2001, Stratos announced it won a competitive bid to provide communication services to the United States Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) to provide global, full duplex, leased satellite bandwidth for use with the Inmarsat B systems aboard U.S. Navy ships. The estimated value of the 5-year SPAWAR contract is estimated to be US $137 million.

"ADCI is committed to providing the US government reliable seamless satellite communications solutions that include secure, mobile equipment, airtime and maintenance services -- cost-effectively," said William Wisecarver, ADCI Managing Director and Partner, TechBank, LLC.

"Partnering with Stratos provides us the capabilities, reliability and professionalism necessary for support of our customers, especially with current heightened national security concerns and issues."
