SkyPower And SunEdison Canada Awarded Ontario Solar Power Supply Contract

Joint venture partners SkyPower and SunEdison Canada are pleased to announce the award of their first Standard Offer Contract with the Ontario Power Authority. The 9.12 megawatt solar project, to be located in Norfolk County in South-Central Ontario, will interconnect with local utility Norfolk Power.

The solar park will generate enough green renewable energy to displace 9,500 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually that would have otherwise been produced by non-renewable power generation in Ontario. The solar power will be generated and used to meet the needs of the local Norfolk region.

"Norfolk Power is a strong supporter of distributed generation and green power renewable sources. This 9.12 megawatt solar park will provide clean solar power where and when our customers need it most," noted Fred Druyf, President and CEO of Norfolk Power. "Demand for electricity is at its highest during the hot summer months. This solar park will be at maximum production during the summer and will significantly help Norfolk Power meet our local customers' energy needs."

A 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the solar park was awarded to SkyPower Corp. and SunEdison Canada under the Ontario Power Authority's Standard Offer Program. Under the PPA, SkyPower and SunEdison Canada will own, build and maintain the solar park.

Approximately 50 local jobs will be created for construction of the plant and 2 full time long-term positions will be created for operations and maintenance of the solar park. Construction on the solar park is currently scheduled to begin in fall 2007.The project is scheduled to be operational and delivering clean renewable power to the Ontario grid by early 2008.
