Sixth Comprehensive Patent Issued To Mobile Satellite Ventures
Reston VA (SPX) May 19, 2005 Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) announced Wednesday the grant of another comprehensive patent for fundamental aspects of its ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) technology. This patent, the 6th in a series of wide-ranging patents, covers systems and methods for coordinating space-based and terrestrial use of satellite frequencies for a satellite/terrestrial hybrid network. The patent covers both band segmentation and/or frequency reuse between the two components of the hybrid network. This recent ATC patent issued to MSV, Coordinated Satellite-Terrestrial Frequency Reuse (US Patent 6,892,068), has 149 claims which brings the total number of claims for MSV patents to over 800.
