Petah Tikva - Feb 24, 2004 Shiron Satellite Communications will unveil a new version of its leading InterSKY system, and the first in a new line of advanced Remote Gateways, at the upcoming Satellite 2004 show in Washington D.C. Both InterSKY Version 3.0 and the iRG 30 will make their public debut at the Washington Convention Center this March. InterSKY 3.0 supports all features from previous generations and several exciting new features. These features include burst mode operation, a DVB-RCS compatible return channel, support for turbo codes and iRG 30 and RG-384 Remote Gateways that are upgradeable over satellite. In addition, the system uses a Multi-Channel Demodulator (MCD) that is based on a new bandwidth processing approach. This next generation demodulator and accompanying controller allow for a compact system that fits all in one rack. InterSKY 3.0 is highly scalable, allowing clients to start with a small system and build up according to their needs and desired financial investment. "Our system is extremely cost effective, not only because of the low capital investment required, but also because of the reduced operational costs," said Shiron's Vice President of Sales, Toby Olshanetsky. "Market experience and technological innovation have enabled us to come up with a system that offers increased performance without increasing the cost." The iRG 30 is a compact terminal that can either operate in PAMA mode (DVB outbound and SCPC inbound) or as an integral part of the InterSKY system. It has the distinction of being the only terminal currently on the market to support SCPC, DAMA, PAMA, DVB-S and DVB-RCS. The iRG 30 is the third Remote Gateway in Shiron's product line and the first of the new iRG terminals. The terminal supports turbo codes and data rates of up to 384 Kbps, has enhanced DVB-RCS software and supports dual continuous and burst mode operation. "Our new iRG 30 is notable for its highly reliable embedded architecture and unmatched performance," said President of Shiron's U.S. subsidiary, Oscar Glottmann. "Rain or shine, on land or at sea, the iRG 30 provides dependable broadband connectivity." The iRG 30 is a powerful broadband solution for ISP points of presence, corporate offices, financial institutions, government offices, small and medium enterprises and Internet caf�s. The terminal is ideal for a wide range of IP applications and allows smooth connectivity to any standard equipment. Shiron CEO, Meir Kollmann, said that these product releases were just the beginning of an exciting time for new Shiron technology. "Throughout the year, we'll continue to roll out new members of the iRG product family, in addition to expanding the capabilities of our InterSKY system, " he said.
