Guildford - Aug 11, 2003 Surrey Satellite Technology Limited has delivered an SGR-05 (Mk 1) miniaturised Space GPS Receiver and antenna to AeroAstro for the US Air Force STPSat satellite. The receiver has previously flown on Surrey's demonstration nanosatellite, SNAP-1, which was launched in 2000, but incorporates updated software for the USAF satellite. Surrey's range of Space GPS Receivers have been used on a number of satellites, including ESA's PROBA mission, and several of Surrey's own small satellites. The SGR-10 has also been selected for the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC), the first satellite for which, AlSAT-1, was launched last November. A further three DMC spacecraft will be launched from Northern Russia on 26 September 2003. STPSat is an experimental spacecraft for the US Space Test Program. The 3-axis stabilised spacecraft is built by AeroAstro and is to be launched as a secondary payload on a Delta-4M rocket.
