Rinaldi Named Information Chief Of JPL
Pasadena CA (JPL) Sep 16, 2005 James Rinaldi has been appointed Chief Information Officer of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. In this position, Rinaldi has direct management responsibility over JPL's Institutional Computing and Information Services Office and will work closely with information technology management, supporting end users of the engineering, interplanetary network and finance/business operations. Rinaldi will also serve as a member of JPL's Executive and Strategic Management Councils. "Jim Rinaldi's extensive experience in developing information technology strategies for corporate and government organizations made him the best match for the laboratory's needs," said JPL Director Dr. Charles Elachi. "We are pleased to have him on board." Rinaldi has more than 25 years of experience with information systems in government and industry. Most recently, he was the chief information officer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Before that, he was director of the e-Government program office and chief of information technology services at the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC. Prior to that, Rinaldi spent 16 years at the Marriott Corporation in Bethesda, Md, where his last position was senior vice president for information resources, operations and services. Rinaldi has a bachelor of arts in computer science from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. He has successfully completed executive and leadership development programs at the University of Maryland in College Park.
