Raytheon To Lead Team Pursuing The USAF Global Broadcast Service
Reston VA (SPX) Apr 10, 2008 Raytheon has signed exclusive teaming agreements with Harris and HP as part of an industry-leading team to pursue the $30 million U.S. Air Force Global Broadcast Service Satellite Broadcast Manager transition contract. The GBS is a critical mission support system for the military providing wideband internet protocol broadcasts of video, imagery and other information to support forces on post, in transit and in theater. This effort will integrate GBS into future net-centric operations across the global information grid. "Raytheon has executed the GBS program for the past 10 years achieving excellent contractor performance assessment reporting scores," said Michael D. Keebaugh, president of Raytheon's Intelligence and Information Systems business. "Now, with Harris and HP on our team, we are confident we can continue to provide the joint services with the best-value solution on time and on budget and deliver the best state-of-the-art, commercial off-the-shelf solutions to support the warfighter." The contract, which will be awarded by the Air Force Electronic Systems Command, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., will transition GBS broadcast functionality to a centralized Defense Enterprise Computing Center and position this system to meet the evolving needs of the warfighter.
