Raytheon Awarded $33 Million NASA Goddard Contract

Lexington - January 28, 1999 -
Raytheon will continue to help crunch and sort data for NASA's Goddard Spacontract valued at $33 million.

Raytheon will help operate four branches within the Space Science Data Operations Office: the National Space Science Data Center, Space Physics Data Facility, Astrophysics Data Facility and Operating Satellites Project. These organizations perform space data operations activities ranging from managing selected operating spacecraft to developing and operating data and information systems that support processing, management, archiving, and distribution of space physics, astrophysics, and planetary physics data and information.

"We are pleased to continue working in partnership with the Space Science Data Operations Office to be the steward of the nation's space science data into the 21st century," said Phil LePore, a vice president of Raytheon Company and Raytheon Systems Company executive vice president and general manager of the Training and Services segment. "This award demonstrates Goddard's recognition of our capabilities and experience in information technology solutions and services. We look forward to helping Goddard to meet its scientific data systems challenges."

Over the next five years, Raytheon will continue to manage an unprecedented volume of data, in a range of tens of terabytes (trillion bytes of information), that will be generated by NASA's space science missions. The Raytheon team includes QSS Group, REI Systems, SGT and the Astronautics Company L.P., which together with Raytheon, will also develop advanced procedures for data archiving, management and dissemination that will enable efficient and electronic access by scientists, researchers, students, educators and the general public.

Satellite Launch To Boost DTH In India
Calcutta, India (SPX) Dec 28, 2005
The successful launch Thursday of India's heaviest satellite from spaceport of Kourou in French Guyana may have boosted the country's space research efforts to yet another level, but it has also lifted the spirits of at least three Direct-To-Home televisions broadcasters, one of which has been waiting for years to launch its services in India.
