Herndon VA (SPX) Jul 12, 2005 iDirect Technologies announced Monday that it has been granted product acceptance by the Rural Utilities Services (RUS), making iDirect the first and only RUS listed VSAT solution. The RUS works to increase rural residents' economic opportunities and improve their quality of life. Their acceptance of iDirect equipment will open new avenues of communication for rural America, bringing residents access to the highest quality broadband services and VoIP capabilities in the satellite industry. "All of us at iDirect are excited for the opportunity to see our technology used in this market," said Bruce Bednarski, senior vice president of business development at iDirect Technologies. "It is very gratifying to know that our products will be widely available to help rural residents gain access to quality broadband telephone and internet services. Rural residents and businesses have some of the most demanding user requirements, which is why it's important for them to have access to high quality products that are suited to meet those demands. The iDirect platform is the preferred solution to replace legacy Basic Exchange Telephone Radio Service Systems (BETRS) as it provides everything from basic voice to broadband internet access." The RUS Telecommunications Program assists the private sector in developing, planning and financing the construction of telecommunications infrastructure in rural America. Under the program, rural telephone companies can obtain a series of loans, grants or a combination of the two that will allow them to build, maintain and operate telecommunications equipment. With the addition of iDirect equipment to the product acceptance list, service providers will not only have access to this tested solution, they will have financial assistance to help make it widely available to the rural customers who will benefit from it the most. Now, RUS accepted iDirect products can be purchased and installed using RUS loans or grants, bringing high quality broadband access to rural America at a low cost. iDirect broadband access has the highest TCP/IP throughputs in the industry with up to 18 mbps, as well as the most powerful QoS in the industry, capable of providing toll quality VoIP. Access to this technology can help deliver the next generation of broadband networks to rural American beyond any geographic constraints.
