Quantum Awarded Half Billion Dollar Cosmic Contract
Huntsville AL (SPX) Oct 03, 2006 Quantum Research International has been awarded the "Concepts and Operations for Space and Missile Defense Integration Capabilities (COSMIC)" contract to provide support to the U.S. Army's Space and Missile Defense Command, Future Warfare Center, Space and Missile Defense Battle Lab (SMDBL). The total value of the contract, including options, is in excess of $449M over a ten-year period of performance. This effort focuses on the Future Army's ability to use Space Power to enable the functions of Command, See, Move, Protect, Strike and Sustain. Quantum will assist the SMDBL in the identification, initiation and development of key space enabling technologies to support the Warfighter on the future battlefield. These technologies will be used to provide enhanced communication, intelligence and weapon platforms to the Warfighter, and include Near Space/High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Platforms, mobile networking technologies, micro satellites, nano-technologies and laser and robotic technologies with Knowledge Management systems. The Quantum-led team will provide professional support in the areas of: management; solution-related enabling products; strategic planning; concept and requirements development; enterprise architecture development; rapid prototyping; test, experimentation and demonstration activities; fielding and systems support.
