Dulles VA (SPX) Sep 01, 2004 Orbimage, a satellite imaging company, announced Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with Antrix Corporation of Bangalore, India to represent Orbimage for distribution and resale of its satellite imagery products in India. The agreement gives Antrix, the commercial arm of India's Department of Space and NRSA, the National Remote Sensing Agency of India, exclusive rights to sell Orbimage products in their country. Antrix and NRSA will be the primary contact in India for sales, customer support, value added services and training relating to Orbimage imagery products. "We are pleased to have Antrix and NRSA as our exclusive representative for OrbView product sales in India," said Timothy Puckorius, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing for Orbimage. "Antrix and NRSA have lead the vibrant Indian remote sensing industry for years. Over the last 11 years I have worked with many members of the Antrix and NRSA team and we have a lot of confidence in their abilities to represent Orbimage effectively in their region. We are looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship for years to come." Orbimage recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of the launch of their high-resolution satellite, OrbView-3, which collects 1 meter panchromatic (black and white) and 4 meter multispectral (color) imagery of every continent on earth. Imagery from the OrbView-3 satellite has many applications including mapping, environmental and agricultural monitoring, land use and land classification, natural disaster assessment, national security and forestry mapping, among others.
