Northrop Grumman To Enhance Resolution Of Army Combat Terrain System
Herndon - Aug 20, 2003 Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector will help provide U.S. Army commanders with enhanced digital battlefield maps under a new topographic information contract with the Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Topographic Engineering Center, a Corps of Engineer R&D laboratory, Alexandria, Va. The Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) Systems Engineering and Integration program is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with the potential value of $100 million over 10 years. Northrop Grumman IT expects an initial award of approximately $7 million for the first year. "We will help the Army advance toward next-generation terrain processing and network-centric enterprise services," said James O'Neill, president, Northrop Grumman IT TASC. "We will continue to provide leading-edge expertise in engineering and development integration of geospatial analysis and intelligence systems for the warfighter." As part of this contract, Northrop Grumman IT develops advanced tactical systems and software that provide commanders with essential information through automated terrain analysis and graphics reproduction in support of intelligence preparation of the battlefield, terrain visualization and other topographic information functions. The company will provide the Army with program management, software and systems engineering; software and systems integration; integrated logistics support; and training. Northrop Grumman IT's work on this program will provide the Army with flexibility to meet surge requirements during times of conflict and continued successful operation in the Army Battle Command System environment. The program will also support migration to evolving warfighting operations, next-generation Department of Defense architectures and advanced terrain applications associated with the Objective Force, a goal for the battle command structure. Work on the contract will be performed at Northrop Grumman IT locations in Chantilly and Sterling, Va., and Fort Hood, Texas. Northrop Grumman IT team members include Environmental Systems Research Institute, Redlands, Calif.; Leica Geosystems, Alexandria, Va.; Gichner Shelter Systems, Dallastown, Pa.; Trimble-TDS, Sunnyvale, Calif.; United Computer Products Co./OPTIA, Altoona, Pa.; Virginia Tech University, Visualization and Animation Group, Blacksburg, Va.; and Xterra Corporation, Reston, Va. Space Group To Activate New Unit
Colorado Springs CO (SPX) Jan 6, 2006Air Force Reserve Command's 310th Space Group will travel deeper into the space program when it activates a new unit Jan. 7. Headquarters Reserve National Security Space Institute will be a Reserve associate unit to the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo. The institute is the Department of Defense's focal point for providing education about space power in joint warfighting. |
