Abuja (AFP) Sep 28, 2005 The Nigerian government on Wednesday approved the procurement of 12 F7NI multi-role combat aircraft and three FT7NI trainer aircraft and associated equipment from China, officials said. The contract was awarded to China Aero Technology Import and Export Corporation at a negotiated price of 251,377,395 dollars, information minister Frank Nweke told reporters. "This is a very clear demonstration of government commitment to ensuring that our armed forces are combat-ready at all times...and that they have the capacity and wherewithal to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria," Nweke said. He did not give further details. Community Email This Article Comment On This Article Related Links SpaceDaily Search SpaceDaily Subscribe To SpaceDaily Express Aerospace News at SpaceMart.com
