Eagan - Nov 13, 2003 Lockheed Martin delivered the second group of advanced Integrated Core Processor (ICP) modules for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter under a $300 million System Development and Demonstration (SDD) contract. The on-time delivery marks another milestone leading up to the delivery of the final ICP configuration in 2004. "We continue to achieve significant program milestones either on or ahead of schedule," said Tom Burbage, executive vice president and general manager of the Lockheed Martin F-35 JSF program. "We are well on our way to a new day in defense aviation." The modules, delivered by Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems & Sensors' Tactical Systems line of business, will be used by aircraft mission planners for software development and design verification. The ICPs are General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) units used for general mission processing, computation and operational logic, control, and input/output signal processing. They are liquid-cooled, ruggedized modular computers that are capable of performing 40 billion sustained operations per second.
