Gaithersburg, MD (SPX) Oct 29, 2010
Lockheed Martin has released a secure mission-ready, turnkey private cloud solution for federal, state and local government agencies, and private sector organizations. The integrated solution called Starfire Mission Ready Cloud is based on pre-integrated, pre-tested technology from Lockheed Martin and VCE, the Virtual Computing Environment, a collaboration of Cisco, EMC, and VMware.

The solution encompasses Lockheed Martin cyber security technology and cloud command/control technology as well as cloud computing and data center technology from VCE.

Starfire Mission Ready Cloud enables government agencies to comply with their security requirements while realizing a full range of cloud computing benefits for mission critical applications.

"Customers are looking for the benefits inherent in cloud computing without compromising compliance and security requirements. We believe that through partnering and innovation we have addressed these concerns within the secure Starfire solution," said Curt Aubley, Vice President, NexGen Cyber Security and Innovation, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Solutions.

"Starfire Mission Ready Cloud builds on VCE's Vblock technology to provide a trusted environment that addresses concerns of data security, privacy and enhanced performance to meet the cloud computing objectives of customers both in the private and public sectors.

"This collaborative partnership with Lockheed Martin signifies VCE's continued commitment to deliver the full benefits of cloud computing through Vblock-based solutions," said Todd Pavone, Senior Vice President for Solutions, VCE.

The integrated solution accelerates affordable development, deployment, innovation and performance of cloud implementations while reducing infrastructure costs and risks.

It is scalable and measurable combining Lockheed Martin mission-focused cloud management and cyber security solutions with VCE's pre-integrated technologies from Cisco, EMC and VMware to deliver a highly-secure computing platform that can scale as organizations' demands for IT grow.

In addition, Starfire Mission Ready Cloud delivers a turnkey pre-integrated consensus audit guideline (CAG) compliant secure private cloud. This continuous security assessment capability provides unmatched cyber security situational awareness which improves a customer's security posture while reducing risk.

Starfire Mission Ready Cloud was initiated under the Lockheed Martin Cyber Security Alliance which was established in 2009 and announced with the opening of Lockheed Martin's NexGen Cyber Innovation and Technology Center.

The Alliance's mission is to address cyber security challenges through collaboration and innovation.

A recent survey was conducted with partners to measure awareness and attitudes about cloud computing and cyber security topics. Survey results and the white paper entitled "Awareness, Trust and Security to shape Cloud Adoption" can be found online.
