Lockheed Martin Advances Biometrics Portfolio Through Cooperation Agreement With Cognitec
Gaithersburg MD (SPX) Jan 03, 2008 Lockheed Martin has further advanced its capabilities and offerings in biometrics solutions through a cooperation agreement with Cognitec Systems, a leader in facial recognition technology. The Cognitec agreement will enable closer cooperation between the two companies in the rapidly growing marketplace for biometrics solutions. "Biometrics is an increasingly important technology area for our customers in intelligence, defense, law enforcement and homeland security," said Bob Eastman, Lockheed Martin Vice President, Information Systems. "This cooperation agreement will improve our ability to offer our customers a complete and fully-integrated portfolio of biometrics technologies. We're also committed to helping small, innovative businesses such as Cognitec continue to advance the state-of-the-art in biometrics technology in an open and collaborative marketplace." A leader in biometrics solutions, Lockheed Martin focuses on integrating a full spectrum of biometrics technologies into a cohesive, service-oriented architecture. That integration allows customers to incorporate multiple biometrics techniques - including fingerprint, facial and iris scanning - into their operations. The result is a more complete and reliable biometrics solution that quickly and accurately recognizes persons of interest. In May, the corporation opened its Biometric Experimentation and Advanced Concepts (BEACON) facility in White Hall, WV, to serve as a collaborative center to develop integrated biometrics solutions. Alfredo Herrera, Cognitec Systems CEO, noted, "We are excited about this cooperation with Lockheed Martin, which reinforces our commitment to provide leading-edge facial recognition technology to our customers. Cognitec Systems are the developers FaceVACS, an advanced facial recognition system that scans and measures several facial features to safely and reliably verify a person's identity. FaceVACS, which has been in development since 1995, has been tested and proven in a number of independent evaluations, including the Face Recognition Vendor Tests in 2002 and 2006. Cognitec is headquartered in Dresden, Germany, and has offices in Herndon, Va., Miami, Fl., and other international locations. DRS Tech Gets Contract To Supply Marine Corps With Rugged Tablet Computers
Parsippany NJ (SPX) Jul 10, 2007DRS Technologies has received a $5 million award as part of a previous contract to provide military rugged tablet (MRT) computers and peripheral equipment for the U.S. Marine Corps' Target Location Designation Handoff System (TLDHS) program. DRS received the order from Stauder Technologies in St. Peters, Missouri. For this contract the company's DRS Tactical Systems business unit in Melbourne, Florida, will produce hundreds of the handheld MRT computers and peripheral equipment. |
