L-3 Communications Announces Multi-Band Manpack Receiver Availability
New York - Apr 28, 2004 L-3 Communications announced Tuesday availability for first customer shipments of its Multi-band Manpack Receiver, a portable receive-only terminal capable of receiving reconnaissance video and sensor data from multiple airborne platforms. Funded and developed by L-3 through its Communication Systems - West (CS-West) division, the Multi-band Manpack Receiver supports all common UAV Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) waveforms, including Ku-Band CDL, C/L-Band Analog, and C-Band FSK. L-3's Multi-band Manpack is the next generation of the company's combat proven C-band only receiver, delivering enhanced capabilities in the same lightweight, rugged package. Production deliveries can be ordered now. L-3's Multi-band Manpack Receiver provides military, special operations, and homeland defense personnel connectivity to most aerial surveillance platforms, including Shadow, Predator, Global Hawk, Fire Scout, Dragon Eye, P-3, Eagle Eye and others. The optional wireless access point delivers images and data to an entire squad, enhancing situational awareness and combat effectiveness without significant increase in size or weight. The standard Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery is form, fit, and function compatible with the common military BA-5590 Lithium battery to integrate with existing field equipment logistics, while the small, lightweight and rugged receiver has display, antenna, and control options suitable to meet a variety of combat requirements. "Real-time reconnaissance video and sensor data from the Multi-band Manpack Receiver will increase the combat effectiveness of Allied ground forces and reduce casualties," said Curtis Brunson, president and general manager, CS-West. Space Group To Activate New Unit
Colorado Springs CO (SPX) Jan 6, 2006Air Force Reserve Command's 310th Space Group will travel deeper into the space program when it activates a new unit Jan. 7. Headquarters Reserve National Security Space Institute will be a Reserve associate unit to the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo. The institute is the Department of Defense's focal point for providing education about space power in joint warfighting. |
