Intergraph has announced it is part of the Karta Technologies team selected by the U.S. Air Force to be one of only 10 prime contractors allowed to compete for work under the Design and Engineering Support Program (DESP II) contract.

DESP II is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract designed to provide rapid, high-quality engineering and technical services and systems integration to the Air Force Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command, the Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Department of Defense agencies and other government entities.

The DESP II contract allows technology development, deployment, reliability, maintainability, environmental and safety compliance and development of information systems.

It also includes engineering tasks such as concept exploration, systems analysis, prototype manufacturing, systems integration, testing, modeling and simulation.

"The experience and expertise Intergraph has with the Air Force and other U.S. government agencies make us uniquely suited for this project," said Kruse Smith, manager of Intergraph's Air Force Business Unit.

"This opportunity allows us to compete for key engineering and services work throughout the Department of Defense logistics communities. This contract also extends to other agencies, such as NASA, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation, which can purchase services on this contract."

Ken Guest, chief operating officer, Karta, said: "Intergraph is a valuable member of the Karta DESP II team. We are particularly pleased to add their expertise in logistics-based Lean/Six Sigma and proficiency in dealing with issues affecting aged aircraft to our mix of world-class companies. We are pleased to work with Intergraph, and our team will benefit from Intergraph's capabilities."
