Reston VA (SPX) Feb 24, 2005 iDirect Technologies has announced the latest addition to their product platform. The addition of the iDirect Compression and Acceleration Server (CAS) technology to the iDirect platform will allow new or existing iDirect customers to reduce their bandwidth costs for web based applications on average by 50%. "This is great news for our customers and the industry," said John Kealey, president and CEO of iDirect Technologies. "A key to iDirect's success has been our ability to deliver more efficient bandwidth to our customers. The current iDirect platform is already twice as efficient as traditional VSAT solutions in its ability to transmit over satellite frequency; this new compression solution allows us to double this efficiency again. Essentially, we're now providing our customers the ability to carry 4 times the IP traffic over the same available bandwidth as our competitors. Incorporating this solution into our platform will allow customers to cut their bandwidth costs in half or double their addressable market with their current bandwidth. IDirect powered networks will even be able to compete on price with cable or DSL access." The iDirect CAS solution compresses and accelerates static and dynamic data and content in real time by using lossy compression algorithms. Integrating this capability into their network solution will allow iDirect enabled networks to optimize the last mile performance of web based applications. The solution is an easy to install, single box that is co- located with the edge router at the teleport. The iDirect CAS compression solution is compatible with the entire family of iDirect hub solutions, in any network configuration. "In certain applications the compression solution will reduce monthly recurring costs to the end user by as much as 50% by increasing bandwidth efficiency of the iDirect VSAT system in Internet access applications," said Greg Cinque, chief technology officer of iDirect. "This new offering will afford our enterprise and carrier customers a distinct competitive advantage in the market, and we believe demand will be strong." The addition of the CAS compression technology will allow iDirect to continue addressing the bandwidth concerns of their customers, and take their network efficiency to a new level. IDirect will be able to offer their customers unmatched bandwidth efficiency without compromising the user experience.
