IDirect Technologies Announces Expansion Into Latin America Market
Reston VA (SPX) Sep 09, 2004 In response to strong initial sales, and growing market demand, iDirect Tuesday announced the appointment of Felipe Gomez as the Regional Sales Director for Latin America. The addition of Mr. Gomez will help iDirect continue offering the fastest, most reliable bi- directional satellite-based broadband access solutions to the Latin American markets. Gomez, a 15-year Satellite Telecommunications veteran, was most recently with Gilat Satellite Networks as the Vice President of sales for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. In this role he was responsible for sales, customer relations, and commercial aspects of the operations. Additional experience with Gilat included Technical Marketing, and business development. Prior to his role at Gilat, Mr. Gomez was with Scientific Atlanta in a lead engineering role involved in the design and implementation of voice and data VSAT networks. "Felipe's experience working with satellite providers in both the sales and engineering roles provides him great insight into challenges network operators face, and the unique benefits the iDirect system can offer them," said Dean Griffler, Vice President Sales - Americas. "We are confident he will bring a fresh services and technology offer to the Latin American market, one that is truly IP centric and that seamlessly merges with existing IP solutions." iDirect's rapid expansion into the Latin America market comes in response to the region's growing demand for broadband access, particularly networks that can support voice, video and broadband IP over satellite. iDirect recently completed their first network operator installation in Latin America with Telecomunicaciones Bantel, a regional service provider with its operations based out of Venezuela, and more than a decade in the business. With the deployment of the Bantel network, iDirect has a marquee customer in the region to demonstrate the benefits of their networking solution. In his new role Mr. Gomez will focus on developing the markets in the region, setting up distribution channels, and establishing partnerships with key players. This expansion into the Latin America market will help iDirect continue their growth in worldwide market share as they bring their unique technology to remote areas.
