Germantown - Oct. 10, 2000 Hughes Network Systems (HNS) announced today that it has been selected by CAIS Internet to provide broadband satellite services to CAIS Internet's real estate and hospitality customers nationwide. HNS will be supplying its DirecWay service, which is targeted to the business market, for applications such as multiple listings, 3D house tours, and Internet access in hotel guest and meeting rooms. "HNS' two-way high bandwidth satellite delivery platform enables us to offer comprehensive services to our customers nationwide, regardless of terrestrial limitations." "This contract creates a major new market segment for HNS' broadband satellite services," said Bahram Pourmand, executive vice president, Enterprise Division, HNS. "We have been the leader in the satellite industry servicing markets such as automotive, retail petroleum/convenience stores, hospitality, retail, and financial services. We are confident the real estate industry will embrace the benefits of our `broadband everywhere' technology." "HNS invented satellite broadband, high-speed Internet access several years ago with DirecPC," said Paul Gaske, executive vice president, Consumer Division, HNS. "We are pleased to offer CAIS Internet our fourth generation broadband satellite products featuring our new DirecPC two-way service which will be available later this fall.
