Port-Au-Prince (AFP) Jan 14, 2011 At least four people were killed and five others injured Friday when houses collapsed in landslides in the southwest town of Jeremie, officials said. Heavy rains in the region over a 24-hour period have caused flooding that damaged roads around the town. "Houses built on the hillside were washed away by landslides, killing the occupants," local official Guillaume Silvera told AFP by telephone.
