Charlotte - November 12, 1998 -
The Integrated Network Group of Glenayre Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GEMS) announced today that Glenayres MVP modular voice processing system has been implemented by Motorolas Ground Systems Division for the deployment of voice messaging and enhanced services for the Iridium gateway network.

The Glenayre MVP enhanced services system is installed in the 12 initial worldwide Iridium gateways. The installation is in conjunction with a contract that Glenayre initially received from Motorolas Satellite Communications Group (SATCOM) in early 1997. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Part of Motorolas Communications Enterprise, SATCOM is the prime contractor for the Iridium System. Glenayres MVP enhanced services platform was chosen by Motorola SATCOM to serve as a Messaging Origination Controller (MOC) for the deployment of voice messaging and enhanced services for the Iridium gateway network. Glenayres MVP system is providing features that will enhance the messaging capabilities of the Iridium offering. Applications provided through the MVP platform include voice and fax messaging, numeric and alpha numeric paging, and short message notification.

"Glenayre is proud to be a part of the team that has made this revolutionary telecommunications endeavor a reality," said Dan Case, president of Glenayres Integrated Network Group. "Working with Motorola on the Iridium System represents a significant technology achievement for the Glenayre Integrated Network Group team worldwide". The Iridium System is a satellite-based, wireless personal communications network combining the worldwide reach of 66 low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellites with land-based wireless systems to enable subscribers to have voice and paging capability by using a hand-held phone and pager virtually anywhere in the world. Commercial service will be offered in every country that has authorized Iridium services. Additional information about Iridium products and services is available at: Glenayre Technologies Inc

Satellite Launch To Boost DTH In India
Calcutta, India (SPX) Dec 28, 2005
The successful launch Thursday of India's heaviest satellite from spaceport of Kourou in French Guyana may have boosted the country's space research efforts to yet another level, but it has also lifted the spirits of at least three Direct-To-Home televisions broadcasters, one of which has been waiting for years to launch its services in India.
