Gilat Beefs Up VSAT Data Networks In Nigeria
Petah Tikva - Jan 28, 2003 Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. said Monday that it has completed commissioning of a new Skystar 360E hub for one of its local partners, DCC. Additionally, Gilat announced the upgrading of a corporate enterprise network, deployed by another of its local partners, SEC, based on its Skystar Advantage VSAT platform. The Skystar 360E hub will provide services for corporate customers including banks and enterprise clients, providing data, IP applications and broadband Internet access. The Skystar 360E network will offer a variety of service packages, tailored for specific customer needs. Installed in December 2002, the Skystar 360E network will provide complimentary services to DCC's existing Gilat FaraWay VSAT network. The official commissioning will take place January 28, 2003, at DCC headquarters in Lagos. The company also announced the upgrading of a Skystar Advantage VSAT network by SEC. The network is providing data services for corporate customers, mostly banks. Deployed several years ago, the network was recently upgraded to handle additional traffic and customers. The Skystar 360E platform offers a flexible, two-way satellite-based solution enabling interactive broadband IP and multicasting applications. With DVB standards and extensive IP capabilities, the 360E supports virtually any data and IP multicast application. The Skystar Advantage network is a private VSAT network designed for data, multimedia and voice applications, providing highly reliable communication between a central hub and almost any number -- tens or thousands -- of geographically dispersed sites. Skystar Advantage is a versatile and modular VSAT product that integrates the features of several different applications into a single platform. Gilat has a strong presence in Africa, operating in 20 countries. Gilat's customers in Nigeria have displayed strong satisfaction with the company's product performance and company services. Gilat sees Nigeria as one of its important markets for 2003 and looks forward to strengthening its commitment to that market in the future. SkyTerra Announces Plans To Separate Into Two Public Companies
New York (SPX) Sep 23, 2005SkyTerra Communications announced Thursday that it plans to separate into two publicly owned companies: SkyTerra, which would solely hold SkyTerra's current stake in each of Mobile Satellite Ventures and TerreStar Networks; and a newly formed entity that would own all of SkyTerra's other assets including its managing interest in Hughes Network Systems. |
