We tested it with the Valley Precision Corner to prove the GPS technology would assure continual adjustment of speed and steering critical for precise, full-field irrigation," said Hector Haget, Valmont's vice president of marketing and engineering.

According to Haget, the research proves the technology is capable of consistent, track-on-track accuracy with pivots and linear machines, as well as with corner arms.

"The technology establishes Valmont as an integral part of the precision farming industry. We are the first manufacturer to integrate GPS technology and mechanized irrigation equipment. It builds upon the trust our customers have placed in Valley dealers and products to provide reliable, cutting-edge management solutions," he added. Haget said Valmont also is researching several other advanced technology alternatives to buried wire guidance, alignment and communication controls.

Each technology will undergo more extensive research and testing on various terrain to determine which provides cost-effective guidance and management solutions for growers over the long run.
