Helsinki - Feb 11, 2004 Fastrax Ltd and RCN-Conti announced Tuesday the inclusion of Fastrax OEM GPS technology in Navi1100 and Navi1200 tracking devices produced and marketed by RCN-Conti. Following the recent commercial launch of Navi1200, both devices are now available for immediate delivery. RCN-Conti's tracking devices are targeted to vehicle telematics applications and fleet management solutions with stringent requirements for cost efficiency, including e.g. public transport. The devices feature a Siemens MC35i dual band GPRS/GSM modem and a Fastrax iTrax02/8 OEM GPS receiver, a programmable 12-channel module with one of the lowest power consumptions on the market. RCN-Conti Navi1200 is an intelligent telematics device that collects both vehicle and GPS positioning data, and transfers the information to a dispatcher center using either a GSM/GPRS connection or an optional satellite communication service. The vehicle data is based on an objective evaluation of operative data retrieved from a CAN interface, including measures such as total distance driven, total fuel used, driver working time, total engine hours with engine speed over the "green zone", engine temperature, and more. With its versatile architecture, Navi1200 suits in various applications tailored to meet customer needs and requirements. Its several external sensors and connections include CAN interfaces, temperature sensors, taximeters, PDAs, fuel level sensors and passenger counting sensors. NaviSat Solutions allow dispatchers to manage their fleet conveniently and efficiently, increasing the efficiency and productivity of their drivers. "We have received tremendously positive feedback from our pilot users as well as from potential new customers. The idea of combining vehicle data with position data and transmitting the information further to a dispatcher center is well appreciated by many fleet owners. By choosing Fastrax as a GPS provider we wanted to make sure that the device is technologically advanced and that we can provide our customers with the best possible solution", said Mr. Sergejs Sofjins, General Manager, RCN-Conti. "The Navi1100 and Navi1200 devices feature the newest embedded OEM GPS technology available in the market. Due to their small size and extreme sensitivity, the Fastrax GPS receivers deliver accurate position data even in very demanding environments, making intelligent yet cost efficient telematics solutions feasible and attractive. Managing and monitoring fleets more efficiently may bring substantial cost savings", said Fredrik Borgstrm, European Sales Manager, Fastrax Ltd.
