Eutelsat Teams with Kingston and Teleports For TransAtlantic

London - July 11, 2000 -
Kingston TLI, the international satellite and broadcast arm of the Kingston Communications Group, Eutelsat and ATC TELEPORTS, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of American Tower Corporation are partnering to offer a new range of cost-effective occasional-use services between Europe and North America using Eutelsat's Atlantic Gate satellite capacity at 12.5 degrees West.

Starting this month, Kingston TLI is offering both inbound and outbound services between London and the United States. ATC Teleports Inc. is providing access to the major US East Coast switches in New York and Washington, D.C. via its Washington, D.C. gateway and fibre network.

Eutelsat's satellite offers a high capacity beam in the Ku-band across the Atlantic, connecting major cities in the eastern coast of the USA and Canada with Europe.

Having committed to new antenna systems at its Bedford (UK) Teleport and a massive investment in fibre connectivity this year, Kingston TLI is ideally placed to provide reliable and attractively priced end-to-end occasional use services to broadcasters.

"We believe these services will be unbeatable in terms of flexibility, quality, reliability and value," said Laurence Cook, General Manager, Satellite Services at Kingston TLI. "This is one of our most flexible platforms, and, coupled with the responsiveness of our 24-hour bookings office, will generate high usage from the outset."

"It was always a given that we would provide full bi-directional connectivity to both the New York and Washington switches, as well as turnaround services to/from US domestic satellite systems," he added.

"We're delighted to have been chosen by Kingston TLI as their partners for this new and exciting service," said David Liddle, VP, ATC Teleports Inc. "Our own recent investment in a dedicated Atlantic Gate antenna underlines our own commitment to this new transatlantic route."

"Eutelsat's move into the market for transatlantic delivery of video and IP backbone services has proven an immediate success since the first licences were issued by the FCC in February this year for accessing our Atlantic Gate capacity from within the USA", said Giuliano Berretta, Eutelsat Director General.

"We are very excited to see that Kingston TLI has selected our capabilities for full point-to-point occasional-use video services. The Atlantic Gate is of key-strategic importance to Eutelsat and over the coming 12 months we will strengthen our offer with enhanced capacity which will enable direct connectivity from North and South America far into Europe and the Middle East," added Berretta.

Satellite Launch To Boost DTH In India
Calcutta, India (SPX) Dec 28, 2005
The successful launch Thursday of India's heaviest satellite from spaceport of Kourou in French Guyana may have boosted the country's space research efforts to yet another level, but it has also lifted the spirits of at least three Direct-To-Home televisions broadcasters, one of which has been waiting for years to launch its services in India.
