Washington DC - September 16, 1998 - Ellipso, Inc. today announced the awarding of yet another United States patent relating to the Ellipso system. The patent, number 5,788,187, is related to the interaction of an elliptical orbit satellite system with ground stations for communications and tracking, telemetry and control functions. "This latest patent reflects the unique characteristics and advantages of the Ellipso system," said Dr. David Castiel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ellipso, Inc. "The elliptical orbital architecture not only enables us to provide low cost telephony and data services to people throughout the world, but with this new patent the deployment of the ground system will also be optimal." The inventors are Dr. Castiel, John Draim, Director - Constellations and Launch Systems, and Jay Brosius, Chief Scientist.
About Ellipso Utilizing unique and patented elliptical orbits, the Ellipso system will provide voice, data, facsimile, paging and geolocational services to subscribers around the world at prices significantly lower than competing systems. The Ellipso project includes the participation of The Boeing Company, the system integrator and space segment prime contractor; the Harris Corporation, manufacturer of the Ellipso spacecraft's communication payload; Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems, developer and manufacturer of the Ellipso ground segment; and L-3 Communications, provider of the digital communications technology.
