Eagle Broadband, a provider of broadband and communications technology and services, announced Wednesday that the company has renamed its Orb' Phone Exchange non-line-of-sight satellite communications repeater system to the Satellite Media Access Extender or SatMAX.

The company also announced that it has received certification for additional SatMAX models and that it is launching a suite of turnkey, application-specific SatMAX Solution Bundles.

The new SatMAX models and Solution Bundles enable government, military, homeland security, first responder, maritime, aviation and commercial customers to quickly and easily make fully wireless, voice and data communications available to multiple concurrent users in non-line-of-sight environments anywhere on Earth.

The SatMAX enables highly reliable, disaster-proof, routine and mission critical communications that can improve safety and security, emergency preparedness and response, user productivity, mobility, problem solving and mission support.

The SatMAX repeater is the first and only technology that lets customers create non-line-of-sight, satellite communications wireless hotspots or "SatSpots" that allow multiple concurrent users of low-earth-orbit satellite networks such as Iridium to use their existing satellite phones or data terminals to make wireless calls within SatMAX-enabled coverage areas including inside buildings or structures; onboard vehicles, aircraft or ships; from obstructed areas or underground.

Eagle has received certification for the ten-concurrent-user Portable, Fixed Structure and Aeronautical SatMAX models.

"We are pleased to be able to make our 10-user SatMAX models and Solution Bundles available to customers to make it even easier and more cost-effective for them to purchase and deploy the technology," said Randy Shapiro, Vice President of Marketing, Eagle Broadband.

"We are launching the SatMAX Solution Bundles in direct response to specific needs expressed by partners and customers for the highest demand SatMAX applications."

"A growing number of customers are turning to Eagle's SatMAX to provide their users with highly reliable, satellite-based, non-line-of-sight voice and data communications."

Available from Eagle and its channel partners, the new SatMAX Solution Bundles include everything a customer needs to rapidly deploy satellite voice and data services in a fully integrated bundle for a single package price.

Each Solution Bundle provides a turnkey package of equipment, services and support, with everything a customer needs to quickly and easily deploy a SatMAX solution to meet their specific communications needs.

The Solution Bundles can be easily customized to meet specific customer needs and typically include a 3- or 10-user SatMAX repeater, satellite phones, site survey, antennas, cabling, installation, maintenance, product updates and 24/7 technical support.

Specific SatMAX Solution Bundles include:

- Emergency/Backup Communications Bundle - ideal for customers in need of highly reliable, routine or mission critical emergency or backup voice and data communications in the event of power failures, primary communications systems failures, etc.

- Fixed Structure Bundle - ideal for enabling reliable satellite-based voice and data communications in existing buildings, plants, hangars, manufacturing facilities or other critical infrastructure.

- Disaster Preparedness/First Responder Bundle - fully packaged communications solution for the immediate provisioning of uninterrupted voice and data services at incidents, crime scenes, disasters, or other emergencies.

- Command/Control Center Bundle - provides primary and backup communication capabilities for temporary/mobile or permanent operations, command and control facilities.

- Special Operations/Forward Area Bundle - ideal for tactical operations units requiring the rapid establishment of reliable satellite communications from non-line-of-sight locations in hostile environments.

- Aviation Platform Bundle - integrated, fully wireless, onboard communication system for multiple concurrent users

- Maritime Platform Bundle - shipboard communications system that integrates easily and delivers below deck satellite-based communications.
