Farnborough, England (SPX) Jul 25, 2006 Dubai Aerospace Enterprise and Cranfield University have signed a 20-year partnership agreement to offer a wide range of top-level courses at the new DAE University, which will open its doors in Dubai this October. The organizations announced their agreement Monday at the Farnborough International Airshow. The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed by the parties in February, and will enable the institute to offer the first aerospace-focused business and engineering masters and doctoral programs in the Middle East. "DAE will be forming international partnerships at the highest level of industry with the aim of establishing one of the most innovative and successful businesses in the global aerospace industry," said Mohammed Al Zarouni, managing director of DAE. "The agreement with Cranfield, an organization at the forefront of aerospace academia, underlines our determination to work with the best partners from around the world," Al Zarouni said. "It will deliver significant benefits for the students who will study at DAE University in the years to come." "DAE has laid down a marker that it wants to become an industry leader," said Frank Hartley, vice chancellor of Cranfield. "As an existing leader in aerospace higher education, this partnership with DAE University is a very logical and exciting step forward on an international stage for Cranfield. So we are very proud to be signing this long-term accord," Hartley added. Cranfield will validate the courses and permanently base a team of its specialist tutors in Dubai, where they will work alongside a range of reputed international guest lecturers. They will stretch over one-year full-time and two-year part-time periods. In addition to MSc courses, DAE University will offer short courses, or modules, each lasting three to five days. This will enable aerospace professionals to pursue their continued education in a flexible, modular format that is most suitable to their needs The range of degree program will grow over the next five years, with DAE University aiming to have more than 8,000 students enrolled by 2015. The rigorous entry requirements of Cranfield will also apply to the courses it offers at DAE University, ensuring the highest academic standards. DAE University will emerge as a purpose-built facility at Dubai World Central - the 140 square kilometer new airport and logistics city being constructed in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
