Parsippany NJ (SPX) Mar 20, 2006 DRS Technologies has announced that it has received orders with a combined value of approximately $22 million to provide advanced intelligence equipment supporting all installation types used in the collection of communications intelligence (COMINT) and signal intelligence (SIGINT) data. These products will be used in man-portable, fixed-site and mobile applications supporting the intelligence community. The contracts were awarded to DRS by various intelligence agencies and U.S. government organizations, as well as domestic and international defense prime contractors. For these orders, the company's Intelligence Technologies business will provide various high-performance tuners, receivers, demodulators, modems, signal processors and direction finding equipment. Product deliveries are expected to be completed in approximately six months. "The receipt of these awards enhances DRS's role as a major contributor of cutting edge intelligence technology solutions and highlights our ability to offer superior radio frequency (RF) performance, a high degree of reliability and unparalleled overall performance to the intelligence community," said Steven T. Schorer, president of DRS's C4I Group. "DRS remains a key supplier of intelligence equipment for the global war on terror." DRS's receivers, tuners, demodulators and signal analyzers perform signal intercept, including cellular intercept, identification, direction finding, location and analysis functions within the 5 kHz to 26+ GHz frequency spectrum. The equipment can be deployed on board surveillance aircraft, helicopters, surface and sub-surface vessels, and vehicles, as well as at fixed sites. The company's product lines range from miniature, single-function components to integrated assemblies and systems, and are supported by DRS's custom software development. DRS's modem equipment provides signal conversion over various media to support fiber optic tactical battlefield transformational networks, including key military communications programs, such as the Joint Network Node (JNN) mobile communications system program. These dual-port, standalone modems enable DRS to provide legacy network interfaces to the military as it evolves to transformational architecture and also provides such benefits as lighter and smaller components, increased functionality and lower cost. DRS provides advanced military and space communications technologies to achieve information superiority on the 21st century battlefield. The company offers a wide range of solutions for gathering, exploiting and protecting critical Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C3I) information, including microwave products with unmatched signal purity for increased surveillance and compact satellite communication (SATCOM) converters with low-phase noise and low distortion that are half the physical size of any other available. DRS also is a leading provider of signals intelligence (SIGINT) systems, network interface modules and high-performance antenna control systems. A leading supplier of advanced technology products, DRS focuses on innovative solutions for communications and surveillance applications supporting the growing intelligence, military and homeland security markets. The company's expertise is concentrated in systems engineering software and hardware development, as well as end-user training.
