Fairfield - Mar 4, 2002 JD Events announced Wednesday the launch of the Satellite Application Technology Conference and Exposition (SATCON), which will focus exclusively on the applications of satellite technology for existing and emerging growth sectors. The first annual SATCON event will be held November 18-20, 2002 at the Hilton New York. "We are launching this one-of-a-kind event in order to bring business-to-business end users face to face with the satellite service provider community," said Joel Davis, President and CEO of JD Events. "SATCON focuses on the relationships between satellite service providers and their core customers, providing a forum for education and a dynamic forum to network." David Hartshorn, Secretary General of The Global VSAT Forum says the satellite industry has been waiting for an event like SATCON. "There are plenty of shows that address the logistics of launching satellites and the financing issues we all must address, but there is currently no event that focuses on existing or potential B-to-B end users. SATCON will help drive the growth of our industry and our expansion into emerging sectors." SATCON will provide an extensive educational conference program designed for new and current users of satellite technology, focusing on corporate benefits. Combining unique session formats with top-notch speakers from the commercial user arena will prove SATCON to be an exceptional venue. Visitors will also have access to a comprehensive exhibition of the latest applications, products and services available in the market. Sponsors of the event include satellite industry organizations such as The Global VSAT Forum (GVF), The Society of Satellite professionals (SSPI), the World Teleport Association and the United States Internet Industry Association (USIIA).
