C-COM Mobile Antennas To Be Distributed By Ericsson
Ottawa ON - Mar 24, 2004 C-COM Satellite Systems Inc. has signed an agreement with Ericsson, to distribute its iNetVu Mobile Antenna systems in Australia. Ericsson Australia has become an exclusive provider of the iNetVu mobile platforms for Telstra, Australia's largest telephone service provider. C-COM has already delivered to Ericsson a number of iNetVu Mobile systems, which have been successfully deployed there. Ericsson is integrating the iNetVu Mobile platforms with Direcway satellite hardware and is providing complete mobile system solutions to Telstra for resale within Australia. The iNetVu self-pointing antennas will provide Telstra customers broadband satellite based 2-way high speed Internet connectivity into vehicles across Australia, enabling them to conduct business over the Internet regardless of location. Australia's leading Internet service provider BigPond is one of the first Australian companies to deploy the Ericsson delivered iNetVu Mobile unit last week during the V8 Supercars Championship Series. The iNetVu Mobile has been integrated into the BigPond SuperTruck, a 25-meter B-double transporter that is being used to promote BigPond's capabilities and house 21 members of the media at all Australian and New Zealand rounds of the series. The V8 Supercar Championship racing series attracts millions of viewers globally who will now be able to view online content live. The SuperTruck will provide high-speed broadband Internet connectivity via satellite to the media across Australia and New Zealand with a setup time of less than 4 minutes regardless of location and will allow journalists to keep fans up to date on the performance of their favorite drivers and teams 17 times faster than using dial-up. This easy to deploy self-pointing antenna technology will enable many Australian businesses and individuals to get connected to the Internet at high speed wherever they can drive to.
