BAE Systems Awarded $16.6 Million Precision Tracking Contract
Rockville MD (SPX) Dec 07, 2004 BAE Systems has been awarded a $16.6 million contract for the Time Space, Position Information (TSPI) Replacement System at the Primrose Lake Evaluation Range (PLER). The contract is to replace the existing cinetheodolite constellation at the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE), in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada, with a modern, automated tracking system capable of testing modern ammunition such as precision guided munitions. The contract was awarded to BAE Systems by Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) for the Department of National Defence, Ottawa, Canada. The TSPI System will have the capability to remotely operate four Optical Tracking mounts in order to provide precision data on two objects simultaneously. The TSPI System will provide real-time inputs for continuous assessment by the range safety officer. BAE Systems Integrated Operations & Maintenance Solutions has delivered more than 90 precision tracking radar Systems and precision tracking optical Systems to test ranges throughout the world. The TSPI System for PLER is a continuation of the evolving technology in high speed data processing, precision optical instruments including infrared camera, eye safe laser ranging units and high speed video cameras. The majority of the integration work will be accomplished in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with some key suppliers located in other locations in the U.S. and Canada. "This contract involves leading-edge technology to support the increasingly complex requirements being handled by world-class weapons development test ranges," said Robert Murphy, president BAE Systems Technology Solutions. Space Group To Activate New Unit
Colorado Springs CO (SPX) Jan 6, 2006Air Force Reserve Command's 310th Space Group will travel deeper into the space program when it activates a new unit Jan. 7. Headquarters Reserve National Security Space Institute will be a Reserve associate unit to the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo. The institute is the Department of Defense's focal point for providing education about space power in joint warfighting. |
